Local Author's Day At Bean Around Books

If you're in or around Pitt Meadows this Tuesday, November 19th swing by Bean Around Books for a full day of exciting author readings. Join Karen Garry, Rev. Stephen Garrett, Corisa Bell, Edwin Downward, Jaimen Shires, and Amanda Muratoff as we read from our eclectic collection of books. Stop by at 10, grab a cuppa and hear me do my best lion impression and then stick around as we rotate the floor on the hour.

Leroy At Bean Around Books

From the Facebook page, for those who like to remain incognito:

All day long we are going to feature our local authors and have them in the bookstore to share their inspiration for creating their books, share their actual stories as well as answer any questions you may have about the book or even about the craft of writing. PLUS all of our authors are happy to sign any purchased books and we'll have door prizes to win signed books.

We're calling it a celebration of writers and we're making it an annual event so please get behind it! #LocalAuthorsDay

Here's the agenda for the day so please come for one or for all of our writers and speakers!

10am - Karen Garry reads from her book "Leroy - Heart Shaped Rawk". A children's book that leads you through a lyrical landscape in this richly painted tale of the life of a lion. Each page composed with heart, rendered by hand.

11am - Rev. Stephen Garrett will be sharing his story "When Cancer Came Knocking" an intimate account of how he, family and friends dealt with the death of his brother Peter and how we can look at our own lives differently so we can live a better and complete life.

12pm - As a part of Women of Worth, past Maple Ridge City Councillor, Corisa Bell will be sharing her story as a collaborator on "Emotional Intelligence: Mental Health Matters" a very powerful book that breaks the stigma that surrounds mental health.

2pm - Edwin Downward will be sharing his writing experience and story in creating "Synergy of Hopes (World's Together) " his debut science fiction adventure novel.

3pm - Jaimen Shires shares his insight and background in making "The Fiending Of The Masses: VOTE BOB" a story that captures the urban culture landscape and how a group of 20-somethings deal with a situation they least expected.

4pm - Returning to the store to share Book 1 and 2 of the Berylian Key Trilogy (Pantracia Chronicles), fantasy/romance author Amanda Muratoff will share what's happened so far in the trilogy as well as give a sneak peak into the upcoming release of Book 3 "Unraveling of the Soul" on November 26th.
